Andreas joined the the Harvard structural geology group in November 1999 as a post-doctoral fellow and is currently a Research Associate in the SGER group. His PhD work at the GeoForschungsZentrum Potsdam, Germany, resulted in a 3d model of a Carboniferous fold and thrust belt in the Variscides of central Europe and a mechanical analysis of its growth based on critical taper theory. At Harvard, his primary research interests involve developing, maintaining and exploring a regional 3d fault model of Southern California (CFM), as well as structural characterisation of contractional deformation using seismic reflection imaging, and cross-sectional, 2d and 3d restoration methods, among others.

Outside geology his interests include profane activities like riding his bike, playing volleyball, going to the beach, going out, drinking beer, joining the Euroclub pub tour and linux. His hair used to be actually longer than shown but currently isn't.
